Kantor Center News and Events

  • As part of the Wiener Lecture Series for the 2012-13 academic year, Prof. Yehuda Bauer spoke on "Why Did World War II Break Out?" The full program for the series, coordinated by Dr. Roni Stauber, can be uploaded here. Unless other specified, the lectures are in Hebrew.
  • The annual interdisciplinary seminar series on "Dilemmas of Identity: European Jews in the 21st Century - Extinct Identities, Formative Identities," opened on November 15 with a lecture by Dr. Laurence Weinbaum, entitled "Jewish Culture without Jews - Krakow, Poland, a Case Study." The full program for the series, coordinated by Dr. Haim Fireberg, can be uploaded in Hebrew here.
  • In preparation for the International Property Restitution Conference in November 2012, Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the Kantor Center to compile a report on legal issues pertaining to private and communal Jewish property seized during the Holocaust in former communist countries (Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia and Hungary). The report was prepared by Adv. Talia Naamat and Ms. Ronna Ilan and covered also European Court of Human Rights rulings and international and European Union and Council of Europe law. The findings of the research presented and discussed during the conference can be uploaded here.
  • HOLD THE DATE: The Kantor Center will hold an international conference entitled "From Rejection to Acceptance - to Be Jewish in 21st Century Germany," on February 10-12, 2013 at Beit Hatfuzot, Tel Aviv University.
