The Kantor Center is happy to announce the publication of the latest of its Position Papers. In her paper “A Crumbling Taboo? Antisemitism in Austria before and after the National Elections 2017”, Carina Klammer analyzes how antisemitism once again is spreading in the Austrian political discourse. She traces its roots back to the post-War “victim myth”, that claimed that Austria was a victim of German aggression and not a willing accomplice—a myth that allowed Austria to escape the same kind of cathartic reckoning that the Federal Republic of Germany underwent. The result can be seen now, a generation later, when old anti-Jewish myths and sentiments reemerge.
